Minimum Skills Requirements · Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience · Vocational or technical training or certificate course or diploma is an asset; · 1 to less than 2 years of experience in food preparation as a cook; · Must have knowledge and experience preparing South and North Indian style Indian Cuisine dishes; There are typical safety concerns and hazards associated with a restaurant at the work location. These hazards include minor burns, dropping heavy equipment, cuts from sharp knives, chemical burns/irritations from cleaning supplies, using the oil fryer, operating the tandoori clay oven, etc.
Responsibilities:
Job Responsibilities: · Prepare and cook full meals, individual dishes and specialty foods as instructed by chef; · Participate in planning menus; · Ensure consistent and high-quality food preparation and presentation; · Order, and maintain inventory and supplies; · Train and supervise staff in meal preparation and cooking; · Work with minimal supervision; · Prepare and adapt dishes for customers with allergies and intolerances; · Work with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer, Tandoor Clay Oven, etc.); · Ensure cleanliness and hygiene is maintained including cleaning kitchen and work areas; · Prepare South and North Indian cuisine dishes like Idly, Vada, Dosa, Sambar, Chutney and Butter chicken, White sauce, onion sauce and Varieties of naan breads
