The Cleaning Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of the overall operation of the Janitorial unit in accordance with federal/provincial, national, and local standards and guidelines.

Requirements/Skills:

The qualified candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in the Janitorial industry.
  • Extensive experience within a fast-paced client-facing environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels both inside and outside the organization.
  • Must be familiar with cleaning products.
  • Strong customer service orientation and skills.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
  • A high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff privacy.

Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities will consist of:

  • Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and the appearance of janitorial areas.
  • Perform regular inspections of client areas and rooms for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Spot-check storage rooms, utility, and janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control. Provide daily oversight and discipline when necessary of the Janitorial staff.
  • Communicate with co-workers to ensure sufficient planning for Janitorial services and activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor client moves and respond to client requests promptly and according to policy. Assist in the preparation of work and staffing schedules.
  • Stay current with new operating methods and incorporate them into existing Janitorial practices as necessary.
  • Attend all required meetings and provide input and recommendations.
  • Contribute to assigned committees.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities for personal growth and development
  • Be thoroughly knowledgeable about and follow the company’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about relevant occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes.
  • Be aware of the assignments of responsibilities specific to supervisors in each section of the Health and Safety Manual.
  • Ensure that all employees are trained/educated (and updated where necessary) to work safely and healthily and that they use all protective devices and follow, without exception, policies, and procedures required by this company and by legislation to protect their health and safety.
  • Advise all employees of any potential or actual dangers and how to address, isolate, prevent, or remove them, according to policy and procedure. Investigate all incidents.
  • Fulfill all required reporting responsibilities
  • Arrange for and conduct as required the safety meetings, safety inspections, and hazard assessments of the workplace to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Actively promote health, safety, and well-being awareness at the work site.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Senior Management
